## Overview

This introductory course teaches AutoCAD the way it is actually used, by drafting a project rather than working through disconnected exercises. You begin with the basics, creating drafting symbols and kitchen and bath fixtures, then draw a floor plan and bring every piece together into a single deliverable sheet file.

Along the way you cover the skills a drafter relies on daily: drawing and modifying geometry, working on layers, adding text and dimensions, and plotting. You will learn the difference between drawing for annotation and drawing real-world model components, and when each belongs in the design and construction process. You will also create and insert blocks, externally reference files, and judge when those techniques improve a workflow rather than complicate it. The project throughout is a residential build for Habitat for Humanity.
