## Overview

Most people use a fraction of Word and fight the rest of it. This course works through the whole curriculum so the program starts cooperating. You will begin with the interface and with creating, saving, and editing documents, then customize the environment to match how you actually work.

From there you will format text and paragraphs, control layout properly rather than by inserting blank lines, and move into the more advanced material: lists and tables, images, keyboard shortcuts worth memorizing, tracked changes for collaboration, and mail merge. You will finish able to build your own style sets and templates so documents stay consistent without being rebuilt each time.

We’ll help you get set up with a free trial of paid software prior to the class. Most of our coding classes utilize freely-available open-source software. For most of our design and motion graphics courses, we will help you get set up with a free trial of Adobe Creative Cloud. If you attend the course in-person, we will have a computer already set up for you with all of the required software for no additional cost.
