Excel can predict the pattern that the user is trying to create and can automatically complete it.

• The pattern data can then be dragged or copied into other cells using the AutoFill handle
• The AutoFill handle is the black cross that appears in the lower right corner of a selected cell or range of cells
• Using Autofill on an individual value will repeat that value
• Select two values to allow Excel to interpret the pattern

• Data can be Autofilled in any direction (bottom to top, left to right
• Autofill can be used to predict number, date, and day/month patterns

Flash Fill

Easily AutoFill data whenever a pattern is detected

1. Enter the number "123" in the grey cell below
2. Type just the first number of the next code sequence and witness Flash Fill at work
3. Press Enter to complete the Flash Fill
